Norwich University Sports Medicine Society
The Sports Medicine Society is a club geared toward Sports Medicine students, but open to students from other programs.
The club lets people know we do much more than just tape ankles in the athletic training room. We raise money to go to Athletic Training conventions where we can learn more about the field, and create study groups where upperclassmen help underclassmen. We also give back to our community by participating in Relay for Life and other local community service events.
During the 2010-2011 school year, we sent two students to the National Athletic Trainer’s Annual Meeting in New Orleans, La.; four students to the New York State Athletic Trainer’s annual meeting in Lake Placid, N.Y.; and one student to the Vermont Association of Athletic Trainer’s Annual Meeting at Lake Morey, Vt. For three years, students have attended the Exercise Science Symposium at Colby-Sawyer College. These trips were all paid through fundraising events and grants secured by the club.
