Performance with a proud history
As the oldest collegiate band in the country, the Regimental Band at Norwich carries on a long tradition of excellence.
Music at Norwich has been a significant part of the curriculum since the founding of the Regimental Band in 1823, when it was an all-brass band and an integral part of the daily life of cadets. Today, the band is a full-instrumentation marching band—woodwinds, brass, and percussion—that performs at formations, reviews and parades.
The Regimental Band has performed at the inauguration of several United States presidents, as well as parades and concerts throughout New England.
Corps of Cadets recruits may request assignment to the Regimental Band Company. Civilian students have opportunities to perform in the Concert Band, playing a more traditional roster of pop tunes and classics. In addition, Norwich hosts the Campus Choraleers vocal ensemble, and the Pipes & Drums, which performs traditional bagpipe music.
Academic credit is available for band participation.
