Because communications professionals must demonstrate both creative and technical skills, Norwich has developed a career-oriented program that stresses the liberal arts and sciences in equal measure.
Our graduates have been offered jobs at ESPN, Sony Studios, E! True Hollywood Story, the U.S. Army, Boris F.X., Avid Technology and many other news, media and tech companies.
With more than 100 students, Communications is one of the most visible majors at Norwich.
Hands-on, real-world experience
Along with fundamental courses in writing, public speaking, literature, psychology, mathematics, science, social science and fine arts, the Communications curriculum stresses advanced writing, editing and production experience in print and electronic media.
By pitching in to help produce the student newspaper (The Norwich Guidon), the radio station (WNUB-FM), and a video magazine, Our American Journey, students benefit from practical workshops that hone their storytelling skills.
The television production unit at Norwich University has won 92 national and regional awards, including the 1999 national first-place College Emmy for best documentary from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and most recently the 2010 Society of Professional Journalists’ national first-place Mark of Excellence award for best in-depth reporting.
