At the David Crawford School of Engineering, we encourage students to practice their engineering skills as summer interns, perform research on and off campus and to take opportunities for international travel.
Internships
Internship opportunities generally come to students through the Norwich University Internship Program, or a faculty member who has been contacted directly by alumni or employers. The Norwich University internship program has a full-time coordinator to assist students and employers with finding suitable matches. Major corporations and government agencies also offer summer internships. They include:

Research
The Summer Student Research Fellowship Program at Norwich University supports faculty-mentored student research projects in both the traditional 10-week format and in a new six-week format. The Summer Fellowships applications process includes completion of a carefully thought-out proposal prepared by a student with guidance from his or her faculty mentor. Each recipient of a 10-week fellowship receives a stipend of $4,000.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and many national corporations also provide research opportunities. They include:

International Opportunities
Norwich University’s first international students attended classes at the school in 1827, making it the second school in the country to offer an international program. Greece, the United Kingdom, Cuba and the Bahamas were among countries represented in 1827. Today, Norwich has international military academy affiliation with the Republic of China Military Academy, the Royal Thai Military Academy, St. Cyr French Military Academy and the German Military Academy.
The Study Abroad Program at Norwich University offers international travel opportunities for students interested in spending time abroad. Additionally, through a partnership between Norwich’s NU VISIONS Abroad service learning group and Global Volunteers, students and faculty travel to developing countries to help build better communities.
