The School of Architecture + Art at Norwich University is committed to engaging students in hands-on, full-scale construction of architectural projects. Often as early as the second semester of the first year, students will build a space that they and their classmates can occupy.
Since the earliest days of the architecture program Design:Build activities have been an important part of the curriculum. Projects have included a skateboard park, library addition, portable huts, a solar powered laboratory and even a mobile, solar powered, affordable house.
A consistent thread running through this work is the notion that each project should engage and serve the public good.
